A personal message of gratitude and hope from the founder.
Thank you for purchasing this product. Life out here isn’t easy for none of us. Bajito Onda artists are all from the Real Urban Americana Ethnic Culture. I’m not proud and I’m not ashamed to come out and say I went to prison for helping Mexicans with counterfeit papers way back in 1982-83. Prison is a horrible place that after my release, I have spent my entire life doing all I can to prevent our young street survivors from getting caught up into. In Old East Dallas I started a print shop and movement called Bajito Onda that in 1994 became a 501c3 Federal Tax Exempt Charity. Over the past thirty some years I have taught thousands of talented lives who had been in the ‘system to fail’ to print T-shirts. Other homies wanted to say thanks to Bajito Onda for helping them or their friends or family and they started sending me all they were allowed from behind prison walls…. They sent original artworks dedicated to Bajito Onda aka (the underground urban scene). Soon I realized these amazing designs or viajes as they are called had to somehow make it back to the streets they came from.
Nothing has changed all these years except for the many lives that have been given hope by knowing that I created Bajito Onda so we all would know that somebody somewhere cared about us when we thought nobody did. I myself am one life given hope because my own mother and sister abandoned me when I was in prison. They moved and didn’t tell me where they went. After my release I was mad as hell and had no idea of how to ever fit back into a society that wished I’d never come back.
After trying my best to ‘make it back’ I myself soon wished I had never come back to the so-called ‘free’ world. One dark day in my life I realized I had no purpose in this life out here and I was never going to ‘fit in’ after all the madness put into my mind and heart in prison. I decided that day to end my ‘free world’ ride and head back to prison where it seemed I was successful in that hate filled life! I picked up an Uzi and realized it was just the key I needed to pick up where I left off behind the walls of prison. It was the most horrible moment of my life when I realized I had lost all hope for a future with family and friends and a life beyond the pain. I honestly thought I had no other choice but to end it all forever or go back to prison for killing innocent persons. My heart was broken and so was my mind. Society had beaten me by turning their back on me and telling me I would just end up in prison again – just a matter of time. As hard and long as I worked as a screen printer… all I made was money. The more money I made the emptier I felt.
I was about to open the door of the little storage building I was in as my purposeless life caved in on me and head out to commit a horrible and senseless crime against others when at that very moment I heard the voice of God behind me tell me – “Stop!” ‘You listened to man and ended up in prison! Listen to me and see where “I” lead you.” I thought I was surely insane but I still listened. The Voice said, ‘Lay the gun down, and go and open your heart and your mind to others like you, violent, rejected, hearts full of rage, minds black with pain and confusion. Together you will all become one family – not of blood – but of hope and love. I would have never believed but Bajito Onda now has grown to half million lives worldwide family.
Since that day so many decades ago I can’t remember when it was I have done my best to serve the lives in the trenches of all society and stay sane and free. I realized by working for riches and not money my life could focus on purpose. We have taken the art and the talented lives behind bars to the United Nations, Mexico, Europe, Africa, Central and South America as well as back into prisons and to many far corners of the world. We have ‘included the excluded’, we have accepted the rejected and we have loved the unloved in this world. Bajito Onda is a peace outreach where all are who live in peace are accepted. The funding from Bajito Onda Printing and projects has funded badly needed vaccines for the children of the Amazon Jungle, for the women of the Amazon who are victims of violence and exclusion because they are poor to help them in their daily struggle just to survive the harsh conditions with their children to raise alone. In Africa we have empowered thousands of the beggar children of Senegal. We are members of the African Union for People’s Human Rights. Bajito Onda has presented to four United Nations Conferences in Mexico our programs to ‘reintegrate excluded members of society back into the world they left behind.’
